Agnes Scott College Class of 2018

The Problem

In May 2023 I was approached by the president of the 2018 graduating class of Agnes Scott College to create an alumni website. She had noticed how other graduating classes had built websites to connect their classmates and relay information about alumni activities and wanted to have one created for the class of 2018.

Assessing the Situation

I sat down with the class president to access the needs of the website:

The site should represent not only Agnes Scott's brand (the colors purple, black, white and the Agnes Scott Mascot) but should also include their class color, red.

The site should include at least 6 pages, including the home page (Meet the Officers, Class News, Members, Gallery, Contact).

The site should include a link to the class of 2018 facebook group, as well as links to all Agnes Scott College social media accounts.

The site should be simple and easy to use.

After looking over all of the options of where to build the site, we decided on building the site on GoDaddy.

Planning the Site

After assessing the situation, I began researching some inspiration for what the site should look like and talking with some members of the class of 2018 to get an idea of what they might want on an alumni website. I found two or three other alumni website from Agnes Scott graduating classes and used them as inspiration for the design of the site. I also spoke with the class president and three other members of the class of 2018 about what they would want in a website. Once I had completed the research phase of the project, I began planning the layout of the site in GoDaddy.

Building and Launching the Site

Since this is a smaller, simpler site, I started with a GoDaddy template that was similar to my inspiration sites and then I customized it to the needs of this site.

built out 6 pages - Home, Meet the Officers, Class News, Members, Gallery, and Contact.

I pulled assests for the site from the Agnes Scott College social media pages, website, and from the 2018 Alumni themselves.

I used purple and back as the main colors for the site and used red as an accent color where possible.

I researched and found articles featuring the members of the class of 2018 and featured some of them on the news page.

The site launched at the beginning of June 2023, with all content except for the officers as we were waiting on the list of new officers.
